Since the last issue of global glimpses was published in May 1996, there
have been several changes at the Center. Dot Keith, Administrative Assistant for
the Center, left to take a new position. We wish her well in her new endeavors
and thank her for her many contributions. The Center's new Administrative
Assistant is Adele Chase, formerly at KUAC and the Interior-Aleutians Campus.
Fran Pedersen is also working at the Center. Among her other activities, Fran
publishes the Center's Science Weekly Calendar, which announces
science-related activities across campus. This calendar and other Center activities can be
found on our web site at http://www.cgc.uaf.edu. Andrew Williams, a
third-year computer science student at UAF, is the Center's new web page designer
We also welcome two additions to the Center's Science Steering Committee: Dr. David Valentine of the School of Agriculture and Land Resources Management and Dr. Peter Olsson of the Geophysical Institute. A current listing of the membership of the Center's Science Steering Committee is included in this newsletter.
The last two issues of global glimpses featured research results from students who had received grants from the Center. We continue this tradition in the current newsletter with research reports from the 1995 grantees. We thank these students for their contributions, and apologize for the long delay in getting them published.
